Students Support the Community and the World

Memorial Lutheran School students and families support various community and global efforts through school-wide projects and chapel donations. In years past we have supported The Lutheran Malaria Initiative, Lutheran World Relief, and our church's Nicaraguan mission team. Locally our students have supported the Thanksgiving luncheon for the homeless, West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM), Lutheran Braille Workers, and Lutherans for Life.

Our 2017-2018 chapel donations will benefit two important international missions of our church:

  • First semester - Nigerian mission of Pastor Charles Wokoma - Pastor Wokoma teaches and trains young men in Nigeria to be Lutheran pastors. His seminary relies solely on donations in order to continue this important work. These donations will help fund the basic needs of the seminary itself, and materials and supplies for the seminary students.
  • Second semester - Telugu mission of Memorial Lutheran Church -  Pastor Sagar Pilli, whose daughter Michelle is in our First Grade class, reaches out to the Indian community of Telegu speakers, bringing the Gospel of Christ to them. His local community has steadily increased, but he cannot continue to offer this wonderful mission without continued donations. Not only does he bring Houston's Telugu community to Christ, he holds a special Bible class and lunch each Sunday for them.

We thank our Memorial Lutheran families for continuing to support our efforts through Chapel donations.
