Memorial Lutheran School students and families support various community and global efforts through school-wide projects, fundraising, and chapel donations. In years past we have supported The Lutheran Malaria Initiative, Cows for Kenya, and our church's Nicaraguan mission team. Locally our students have supported the Thanksgiving luncheon for the homeless, West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM), Lutheran Braille Workers, and Lutherans for Life.
Our 2016-2017 chapel donations will benefit:
First semester - construction of a new prayer room in the church here at Memorial Lutheran. It is the goal to have a prayer room in the church building where parishioners and visitors will have a special place available to them for private prayer and meditation. First semester donations will help this project. $2500 was raised for the prayer room - thank you to all of our MLS students and parents for their support.
Second semester - Lutheran World Relief - Our second semester chapel donations will go to the goat project sponsored by Lutheran World Relief. Their goal is to help families in need in the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. In parts of the world where food supply is precarious, a hearty goat can survive, giving milk that nourishes and sells. For every $100 donated, a needy family will receive a goat.
