Memorial Lutheran School adheres to a school uniform policy for students in Pre-school 3 through 8th grade. Children are to wear the official uniform each day of the week except for designated dress days announced during the year.

Chapel Day Uniform - the designated chapel uniform is required for Chapel.
Boys must wear the long tan khaki pants and the white monogrammed button-down oxford shirt. The plaid tie is required for boys in K-8. The tie is optional for boys in Pre-school 3 and Pre-K 4. The navy monogrammed sweater vest is required November through February.
Belt requirements for boys: If the pants have belt loops, a black leather belt must be worn for K-8.
Girls in Pre-school 3’s through the 3rd grade must wear the plaid jumper with the white sailor blouse and navy tie.
Girls in the 4th through 8th grade must wear the plaid skirt or skort and white monogrammed over-blouse with the loose navy tie.
All girls in Pre-school 3’s through the 8th grade are required to wear the navy monogrammed cardigan November through February.
Non-Chapel Day Uniform Options:
Boys must wear wear the navy or green monogrammed polo shirt - short or long sleeved - and tan khaki shorts or long pants. Elastic waistband shorts/slacks are for Pre-school, Pre-K and Kindergarten only.
The Chapel uniform may be worn any day of the week if you so desire.
Belts – Boys must wear a black leather belt if the slacks or shorts have belt loops for K-8.
Girls in Pre-school 3’s through 4th grade may wear the navy or green monogrammed polo - short or long sleeved - with the plaid culotte (4th with the plaid skort or skirt). They may also choose to wear the green monogrammed polo dress as a non-Chapel day option. Please note that green shorts are required to be worn under the green polo dress.
Girlsin the 5th through 8th grade must wear the white, navy or green monogrammed polo - short or long sleeved - with the plaid skort or skirt.
All Girls -The Chapel uniform may also be worn any day of the week.
Girls in Pre-school 3’s through 3rd grade – The jumper must be worn only with the white sailor blouse and navy tie. The polo must not be worn with the jumper. That is not an acceptable uniform combination.
Designated Dress Days:
Designated dress days will be determined by the headmaster and faculty and criteria will be sent home for the students to follow.
Sock Requirements – Chapel, non-chapel, and designated dress days:
All girls in Pre-school 3’s through 8th grade must wear white socks that are at the ankle or higher (bobby/ankle socks or knee socks).In the winter months, girls may wear white or navy tights or leggings.
All boys in Pre-school 3’s to 8th grade are to wear white socks that are at the ankle or above – crew/athletic socks.
Shoe Requirements – Chapel, non-chapel, and designated dress days:
Girls in Pre-school 3’s to 8th grade are to wear solid white or black tennis shoes, or the oxford saddle shoe (Stride Rite makes them, and Parker carries them also). Colored logos are not allowed (logos should be the color of the shoe). Parker also carries an all-white tennis shoe at a very affordable price. Girls may also wear a black leather flat or Mary Jane style shoe. This includes designated dress days.
Boys in Pre-school 3’s to 8th grade are to wear either all black or all white tennis shoes. Colored logos are not allowed (logos should be the color of the shoe). Parker carries a nice New Balance shoe at an affordable price. Boys may also wear black leather lace-up shoe. This includes designated dress days.
Neatness and Appearance
Only official school jackets/sweaters/sweatshirts may be worn inside. Hair should be clean, neat, and kept trimmed.
Hair styles should be in good taste and is at the discretion of the headmaster. Any extreme style is not appropriate. Boy’s hair length must be above the collar. Girl’s hair must be neat and out of their eyes. All hair bows, ribbons or other decorative hair ornaments must match the colors of the uniform and should not be a distraction.
All boys’ and girls’ polo shirts must be tucked in. All boys’ oxford shirts must be tucked in.
Girls may wear stud earrings (posts). No other types of earrings are allowed. Only one pair may be worn at a time. Boys may not wear earrings. Wrist watches may be worn, but no other jewelry is acceptable.
Makeup may not be worn. Girls may wear clear nail polish only.
Other Important Information:
The only jackets/sweaters allowed in the classroom are the monogrammed cardigans or vests, or the school-issued athletic jackets. On very cold days, any type of coat or sweater is allowed when students go outside.
All uniforms must be maintained and in good repair, clean and appropriate in size, fit, and length.
Disciplinary Actions for Uniform Non-Compliance:
As a result of not wearing the proper uniform, the following actions will be taken:
Pre-school through Kindergarten -A parent will be called and required to bring the appropriate clothing to school.
First – 8th Grade -
First violation: parent will be called and required to bring the appropriate clothing to school.
Second violation: parent will be called and required to bring the appropriate clothing to school and the student will also receive a detention.
Third violation: the child will be suspended for the day and a parent will be required to come and pick up the child. All work is to be made up, but the work will be regarded and graded as being late.
